UK workers suffer biggest hit to wages since records began

Rising prices and bigger bills mean millions of British workers are worse off, according to official data released today.

The Office of National Statistics says pay has fallen further behind the rising cost of living.

While average wages rose 4.7%, the “real value” of pay has fallen by 3% which is the biggest drop in wages for 20 years. It means there could be more strikes this autumn.

Sky’s Business Correspondent Helen-Ann Smith reports.
