Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the ban on football fans drinking in the stands during matches is outdated.

Burnham, who’s a keen Everton fan, said he didn’t think it was fair for football fans to be singled out, when those watching other sports are not.

He suggested they could trial a change.

The ban came in during the 1980s when hooliganism was a major problem.
