Whilst some places towards the south and east will stay dry all weekend, other places – especially northwestern parts of the UK – will become increasingly wet.
Heavy and prolonged rain will set in across much of northern and western Scotland, Northern Ireland, North and West Wales as well as northwest England. A number of yellow warnings are in force. But the biggest cause for concern is Cumbria where more than 200mm of rain is forecast to build up in some of the wetter spots and an amber warning has been issued.
