Analysis from Sky News suggests that spending on household energy bills is heading for the highest level since the 1950s.

Taking data from the Office for Budget Responsibility, we have calculated that people will soon be spending 7% on power at home.

Analysis is based on official data which has been collected since 1957 on family spending.

Sky’s Data and Economics Editor, Ed Conway, has been looking at the numbers and has this analysis.
