Three people have died and a British man is in intensive care after a suspected hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship in the Atlantic.

An investigation is underway into the illnesses reported aboard the vessel – which was travelling from Argentina to Cape Verde.

Hantavirus is a rare but highly lethal illness spread by rats and mice – transmitted to humans via droppings.
