Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy said that almost half of Ukraine’s grain export supply has now been stopped because Russia continues to block the main export routes on the Black Sea and the Azak Sea. “22 million tons of grain are being held in warehouses,” he said.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has made a statement about the crops that cannot be exported in the country. Zelenskiy said that almost half of Ukraine’s grain export supplies have now been stopped because Russia continues to block the country’s main export routes through the Black Sea and the Azak Sea, describing the situation as a potential “disaster” for global food security.
“Today 22 million tons of grain are held in storage. We cannot supply them to the international markets where they are needed,” he said. “Famine does not come alone, it is accompanied by a political chaos that always makes it worse, destroys people’s lives and creates unsafe conditions for people. In July, many countries will understand the magnitude of the disaster when they consume last year’s harvest stocks,” he said.
