Pressure on Keir Starmer as fourth UK government minister resigns | RTÉ News

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is continuing to face down the prospect of a leadership challenge.

This evening 100 MPs have signed a letter expressing support for him.
However, a fourth junior minster, an ally of Health Secretary Wes Streeting, has resigned from government, keeping up the steady drum beat of resignations and demands for a leadership contest.

The number of MPs publicly calling for Mr Starmer to go has now passed 87.

But the prime minster is not giving up, having earlier told his cabinet there is no leadership contest because nobody has put their name forward to formally challenge him.
