US Senators introduced a new bill to stop foreigners from traveling to the US to give birth, with the intention of getting US citizenship for their children. It’s commonly known as “#BirthTourism.” Chinese and Russian nationals especially engage in it. In 2012, there were roughly 10,000 birth tourists from China.

German company Deutsche Telekom expanded its ties with Huawei without telling its main investor: the German government.

The UK government is urged to sanction Chinese human rights abusers. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has announced the UK’s new sanctions list that targets human rights abusers. The sanctions, effective immediately, include travel bans, and asset freezes. The list, though, doesn’t include human rights abusers in China.

A Chinese city in the south-west was rocked by powerful blasts from a fireworks factory that exploded.

Floods continue in China’s various provinces. Landslides hit Guizhou province. Four villages and over 500 people were affected. Many are still missing.
