A bus transporting German vacationers has stepped off a road and overturned around the Portuguese island of Madeira.

A minimum of 29 people died and the other 27 were hurt within the accident close to the capital of scotland- Caniço, based on national news agency Lusa.

Local mayor Filipe Sousa stated all of the vacationers around the bus were German however, many residents may be one of the casualties. Eleven from the fatalities were men and 17 women, Mr Sousa added. Public transit was considered to be transporting 55 people.
