Health officials had warned it was only a matter of time and soon enough came confirmation of what they’d been preparing for.
The first cases of coronavirus in the UK were confirmed with two people from the same family being treated, in isolation, at a Newcastle hospital.
They’d both fallen ill at a hotel in York.
Public Health England has upgraded the risk level of the virus from low to moderate.
