Thousands and thousands of Muslims in China – possibly millions – are now being locked in vast secure facilities, despite the fact that they have committed no crime nor faced any trial. The BBC continues to be given rare use of a few of the sprawling complexes within the western region of Xinjiang. People there’ve apparently been arrested for several weeks or perhaps years – only for putting on a veil, praying frequently, or simply contacting relatives overseas.
