Brunei is presenting strict new Islamic laws and regulations which make rectal sex and infidelity offences punishable by stoning to dying.

The brand new measures, which come into pressure on Wednesday, also cover a variety of other crimes including punishment for thievery by amputation.

The move has sparked worldwide condemnation.

Brunei’s gay community has expressed shock and fear in the “medieval punishments”.

“You awaken and understand that the neighbours, your loved ones or perhaps that nice old lady that sells prawn fritters through the side from the road does not think you are human, or perhaps is okay with stoning,” one Bruneian gay man, who didn’t wish to be identified, told the BBC.

The sultan from the small south-east Asian nation on Wednesday known as for “more powerful” Islamic teachings.
