Another 626 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have now died, taking the UK total to 31,241. The number of tests conducted was 97,029, higher than yesterday’s figure but still missing the government’s target for the sixth day in a row.
In the daily coronavirus press conference, Environment Secretary George Eustice also announced an extra £16m in funding for charities to help vulnerable people access food.
