Bank of England takes emergency action to help UK economy | 5 News

â–º The Bank of England has taken emergency action to help prop up the UK economy. The day began with the value of the pound under sustained pressure and a record drop in the number of mortgage products on offer.

Then the shock news of that major intervention – the Bank announced it will start buying up government debt. It says it acted to stabilise the situation and prevent spiralling borrowing costs.
