Conservative chair Kevin Hollinrake has defended Robert Jenrick, saying he was “merely pointing out a fact” when he claimed he “didn’t see another white face” while filming in Handsworth, Birmingham.

Jenrick described the area as “one of the worst integrated places I’ve ever been to,” sparking backlash from local leaders and Labour’s West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker, who said he was “appalled.”

Hollinrake insisted the remarks were about cultural integration, not race, adding: “Some communities are separating from mainstream society – that’s not healthy.”
